Northfield Manor is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide residential care. All individual accommodation can be decorated to individual tastes/requirements and we encourage people to personalise their own room with personal belongings. We currently have 31 bedrooms in use including some en-suite, of these 22 rooms are for single occupancy and 9 are companion rooms. We are always pleased to help you organise your personal space in a way you choose. You are welcome to bring some of your own furniture (providing health and safety requirements are met), please discuss with our Manager before bringing furniture in.
We have three lounges catering for different needs and wishes. We have a lounge in Rose Garden plus a sensory room. We have a large lounge with a television and a smaller lounge used either as a quiet lounge or a television lounge. Activities take place in the lounges at pre-arranged times in accordance with residents wishes. Additionally we have a seating area in the reception area where some people like to sit and see who is coming and going.
The residents at Northfield Manor can benefit from the use of a computer. There is a computer situated in the entrance area, which has internet connection, a web-cam and skype and enables people to see and stay in touch with family and friends, no matter where they live. Additionally complementary wi-fi is available in the communal areas so individuals are able to access the internet using their own devices.
Our outdoor areas and gardens are accessible to all including wheelchair users. The garden is divided into different areas including an enclosed garden attached to Rose Garden; an area including a greenhouse and produce (vegetable beds and fruit trees); there is a decked area leading out from the lounges with a raised bed which is accessible to wheelchair users and is planted with scented plants; an area with an ornamental fish pond and attractive borders and a courtyard area with a brick built fish pond and raised beds. There are seating areas located throughout the grounds for socialising or solitude as required.
In Rose Garden we support individuals who are living with a dementia. We are able to support those with mild to moderate needs. We work using a person-centered approach using life story information and occupation as a foundation for individualised care and support.
Dementia can take many different forms and although different people may experience some of the same symptoms, each person’s dementia journey is a unique one. It is important that you tell us as much as you can about your loved one, significant life events, what is important to them, etc. It is equally helpful if you are able to provide photographs and other items with memories and links to the person and their life.
The staff who work in Rose Garden are trained in understanding dementia and are experienced in this field of work.
Facilities in Rose Garden include a domestic style kitchen, a TV lounge, a sensory room and a freely accessible enclosed garden area. If you would like further information on Rose Garden please contact our Manager Amanda Gell on telephone number 01377 257288 (option 2).
